About
About the Transaction Database
The Transaction Database is a public reference of consumer and retail M&A multiples, built from the same primary-source research that goes into the Mergers & Tribulations newsletter.
This is a project created by Nicolas Murat, a private equity fund manager and former investment banker.
What's in it
Every figure here is transcribed from a primary document: a fairness opinion in a merger proxy, an SEC filing, a company release, an investor presentation, or, in rare instances, sell-side research. Nothing is estimated, interpolated, or licensed from a data vendor. Where a multiple is missing, it is because the source did not disclose it, not because it has been left out.
How the data is recorded →What it is not
This is a research reference, not a valuation service. Multiples are reported as the source stated them and have not been adjusted for capital structure, one-offs, or differences in accounting treatment. Verify against the linked filing before relying on any figure.
